2nd Dan BlackBelt Grading

Well done to the blackbelts who passed their 2nd Dan grading on Saturday 4th June 2011!

Chantelle Goodwin, Callum Prince and Chris Curle all achieved their 2nd Dan Blackbelts after a gruelling 2 hour exam, in which they had to show their skills in padwork, sparring, self defence, forms and pressure testing.

Also thank you to Ethan for helping out at the grading, he was there all the way through, from padwork to sparring, and most definitely went away with a few bruises himself!

Everyone did brilliant, so well done to them!

One Whole Month!

Well, we've been in the new academy for just over a month now, and as you can see it is going from strength to strength!
We now have a large matted martial arts area, a seperate Samurai Sam area, a boxing area and a fully equipped gym, as well as a reception and waiting area. There's still a lot of room for improvement, but I think you'll agree that it's already a huge improvement on the previous place.

We recently held a Powerlifting Seminar this last weekend, with guest instructor, World Powerlifting Champion Phil Beniston. It was a brilliant seminar enjoyed by all, and I was really impressed with the turn out. Thanks for supporting! As it was such a success, East Coast Martial Arts are now running a weekly Powerlifting Club, which will be held every Saturday 1:00-2:00pm. Ideal for people who want to pursue a competitive career in powerlifting, or simply for those wanting to improve on muscular strength and build.
There will be a small charge for the session, which will then go toward paying for Phil to come over once a month for a training session.

Finally, a few members of Team Courage are off to San Marino this month for the IAKSA World Championships. We have Senior Instructor Adam Rocky Beniston competing in Semi Contact Points Fighting and Korean Patterns, Tom Rankin will compete in Semi Contact Points and Korean Patterns, and Rocco D'Ambrosio will compete in Semi Contact Points, Light Continuous, and Korean Patterns.
They leave on Thursday 19th May, so wish them Good Luck!

New Academy!

As some of you may already know, East Coast Martial Arts are moving!

We have a new academy which will be a total of 6000sq ft. There is going to be a fully matted martial arts area, a separate boxing area with punch bags and speed balls, a separate gym & fitness area with equipment and free weights, a separate Samurai Sam area for the 3-7 year olds, a toilet and changing facility, reception & lounge area, and a shop. The centre will also have a private gated car park and entrance.

The new centre is located at Linx Pictures which is at the bottom of Regent Road. All existing members will be receiving newsletters with map and directions to the new place.

We will be moving in on Monday 4th April, with a Grand Opening on Saturday 9th April. We're hoping to hold a few training seminars as well as performing numerous demonstrations in kickboxing, tae kwon do, karate, ju jitsu, forms and fighting, and it will be open to the public. So bring your friends and family down for a free open day!

We'll also be running a lot of extra classes once the new centre opens, including fitness and martial arts classes, in both the daytimes and evenings. So if there's anything in particular you'd like to see at the academy, let us know and we'll see what we can do!

Last note - There will be monthly membership packages available for just fitness, just gym, and just martial arts, as well as all inclusive packages for people doing a bit of everything. There is also the option to pay as you go, so you can choose the cheapest solution for you.

Keep checking for updates and pictures!
